Speech-Language Pathologist | Houghton | Hancock, MI

(Houghton/Hancock, MI) Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) is responsible for building and managing the SLP caseload, along with managing/treating our speech program/patients.  SLP will assess diagnose, treat, and help to prevent disorders related to speech, language, cognitive-communication, voice, swallowing, and fluency.  Manage and promote success of patient care by performing the following:

  • Develop a culture of awareness and support for quality patient care in combination with an effective and sustainable business model.
  • Facilitate and provide feedback regarding rehab service performance and value added services to the leadership team of U.P. Rehab.
  • Maintain compliance with facility policies and procedures and regulatory agency requirements.
  • Monitor daily productivity levels to achieve patient care standards established by management.
  • Maintain productivity level of at least 70-85%.
  • Implement a patient outcome measurement system to support and validate delivery of quality care.
  • Contribute during the continuous quality improvement monthly meeting that addresses patient care and administrative processes.
  • Work with compliance officer and administration to address any compliance issues that are discovered though audits or self -observation.
  • Mentor new SLP staff members in relationship to compliance, administrative processes, and cultural integration.
  • Maintain a schedule to ensure adequate coverage for relevant budgeted caseloads and secondary staff needs at each facility.
  • Perform clinical evaluations and care of patients as needed to support staffing needs.
  • Serve as mentor for staff for quality and business related goals.
  • Assist in developing meaningful programs that assist in achieving the business plan.
  • Evaluate programs and provide feedback regarding performance and adjustments to ensure success.
  • Seek opportunities for business development/growth.
  • Develop individual plan of care, tailored to each patient’s needs.
  • Keep accurate records on initial evaluations, progress and discharge notes of patients.
  • Counsel families of patients to assistance them in the understanding of their family members condition.
  • Help patients develop, or recover, reliable communication and swallowing skills so patients can fulfill their educational, vocational, and social roles.
  • Attend any meetings required by the facilities or families to discuss patients care and treatment levels.


Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Speech and Language Pathology or Audiology and five years of experience as a Speech-Language Pathologist required.
